TRACEABILITY PROTOCOL

The traceability of medical devices used at the Targa Dental Clinic is part of materiovigilance. Indeed, it is a mandatory protocol that allows medical devices to be followed from their manufacturing phase to their use.
There are three types of traceability protocols:

Medical equipement

A medical device is any instrument, machine, device, implant, etc. intended for use alone or in combination with other patient tools.

Sterilization

An essential process to ensure the prevention of transmission of infectious pathogens to patients and clinic staff.

Dental medical record

A detailed document of the history of the disease, the physical examination, the diagnosis, the treatment plan chosen and the management of the patient.

The traceability of medical devices

consists in computerizing the circuit between a medical device and the patient. Indeed, a document marking out the appropriate procedures for the disinfection, cleaning and sterilization of a medical device is mandatory to guarantee transparency as to the safety of use and maintenance. This traceability also allows the Targa Dental Clinic to report any incident related to medical devices or products.

The traceability of the sterilization procedure includes:

  • Labeling and marking of each sterilized medical device (number, date, etc.)
  • The creation of a traceability file per load (date, manager, products used, etc.
  • Archiving
  • In fact, each instrument used for each patient after each appointment undergoes a sterilization procedure which includes:
  • Ultrasonic cleaning.
  • Rinsing
  • Drying
  • Conditioning

The traceability of the medical file

includes treatment plan, quote, x-rays, list of outsourced work (labs, etc.), patient consent, etc.
