DENTAL PROSTHESIS

Dental prostheses can replace missing teeth. They can be mobile and therefore removed or used by the patient according to their needs given their mobility, or fixed on the teeth or on artificial roots (implants).
Movable prostheses are recommended for people who do not wish to undergo dental surgery, in particular people who have suffered partial or total loss of teeth following trauma, an accident, old age or other, people suffering from a health problem contraindicated to surgery or people with insufficient dental bone density.

It is a very economical and popular solution. However, it is less comfortable and less practical (sensation of a foreign body, ineffective chewing, the hold in the mouth is not always obvious…) than fixed prostheses. The crucial factors for good long-term performance of dentures are strength and stability. Indeed, fixed prostheses are the most recommended solution in terms of stability over time, comfort, aesthetic result and chewing efficiency, moreover patient comfort is an important parameter used to assess the success of dental prosthesis.
There are several models of fixed prostheses indicated in each case: ceramic crowns, dental implants, dental veneers, etc.

There are 2 types of prostheses:

full and partial dentures. They are both made in a laboratory, from impressions of teeth.
Full dentures are used when all teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when natural teeth are still present in the mouth.
The result of dentures is immediately visible. Your dentist will take into account the shape and color to make a denture suitable for your mouth. Once you get used to the device, you no longer experience excessive salivation or difficulty eating or speaking: complications that can arise after installation.

Dentures can help patients feel more confident by replacing their missing teeth or making discolored or damaged teeth healthier and more visibly attractive. If you think that a dental prosthesis could be the solution to your dental problem, make an appointment with your dentist at Clinique Dentaire Targa to discuss your options to improve your smile.

The sustainable solutions are:

  • Dental implant
  • Dental bridge
